Founder of the United People’s Party (UPP), Akwasi Addai Odike has lambasted President Akufo-Addo for using an expensive private jet in the midst of the economic hardship in Ghana.
The President, Nana Addo has received some backlash from some legislators and other top dignitaries for using a hired expensive private jet for travelling instead of the country’s presidential jet ‘the Falcon 900EX’.
Recall that, Nana Addo recently travelled to the United States with a private jet which caused the country billions of cedis.
According to Odike, President Akufo-Addo does not respect Ghanaians hence his decision to travel with expensive jets despite the country’s economic impediments.
“President Akufo-Addo doesn’t respect Ghanaians, that is why he is not using the ‘Falcon 900EX’, a customised presidential aircraft which was bought by former President Kufour.” Odike asserted on Oyerepa Breakfast Time hosted by Akua Asieduwaa.
President Akufo-Addo bordered a commercial flight to the Dubai Expo which was held on Monday, March 7, 2022.
The Ranking Member on Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa and some top individuals applauded the president for using the commercial flight.
But Odike disclosed that the President was forced to use the commercial flight to the Dubai Expo.
“It was part of the condition that any attendants of the Dubai expo should use the emirate that was why Akufo-Addo use it, he was forced.” He explained.
