Gomoa East NDC delegates lament neglect by constituency executives ahead of internal elections
Some delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Gomoa East Constituency have expressed frustration over what they describe as neglect by some party executives since the NDC assumed power.
The delegates accuse some constituency leaders of abandoning the grassroots after securing leadership positions, arguing that the situation has weakened the relationship between executives and party foot soldiers.
They are therefore calling for committed, accessible and responsive leaders who will remain connected to the grassroots, listen to their concerns and prioritise their welfare even after being elected into office.
The concerns were raised during an engagement with Hassan Hamidu, the incumbent Constituency Organizer seeking re-election, at Gomoa Potsin.
During the interaction, the delegates commended Mr. Hamidu for what they described as his continued support for the welfare of party foot soldiers, particularly since he assumed office as Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).
They said the upcoming constituency executive elections offer an opportunity to elect leaders who will prioritise the needs of the grassroots, strengthen internal party structures and restore confidence among members.
The delegates stressed that maintaining close ties with party supporters would be essential to consolidating the NDC’s grassroots support and positioning the party for the 2028 general elections.
Meanwhile, Hassan Hamidu has urged delegates to elect executives who will remain committed to their responsibilities and avoid abandoning members after winning their votes.
He emphasised that effective grassroots engagement, accessibility and dedicated leadership would be critical to reorganising the party and building a strong foundation ahead of the 2028 elections.
