Kumasi: Young Lawyer dies while celebrating Ghana’s victory over Panama
A 26-year-old private legal practitioner, Sara Araba Tettey, has died after reportedly collapsing while celebrating Ghana’s victory over Panama on Wednesday, June 17, 2026.
Ms. Tettey, an alumna of the Faculty of Law at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), had recently been called to the Ghana Bar and was working with O & A Legal Consult.
According to reports, she was watching the match with friends at Standard Hostel, a private student hostel located at Bomso near the KNUST campus, when the incident occurred.
Witnesses said she suddenly collapsed during celebrations that followed Ghana’s victory.
She was immediately rushed to the KNUST Hospital, popularly known as Tech Hospital, where medical personnel reportedly made extensive efforts to revive her. Despite undergoing emergency treatment, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), she was later pronounced dead.
The news of her passing has sparked an outpouring of grief within the legal fraternity, particularly among her colleagues, former classmates, and members of the KNUST law community.
Affectionately known as Araba Tettey, she was widely regarded by friends and associates as a dedicated and promising young lawyer whose career had only just begun.
Her untimely death has left many mourning the loss of a talented legal professional with a bright future ahead.
Her body has since been deposited at the KNUST Medical School mortuary pending funeral arrangements and further procedures.
The exact circumstances surrounding her death have not yet been officially communicated by her family or medical authorities.
