Doctors at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have withdrawn their services, citing concerns over patient safety and the protection of professional standards within the facility.
In a notice issued by the Korle Bu Doctors Association (KODA), the group confirmed that the industrial action took effect from May 2, 2026.
According to the Association, the decision was not taken lightly but became necessary due to prevailing circumstances affecting the work environment and clinical practice.
“KODA does not take this step lightly. It is taken in the interest of patient safety, professional integrity, and the long-term effectiveness of this institution,” the statement said.
The Association stressed that the action is aimed at drawing attention to unresolved issues and ensuring that appropriate measures are put in place to safeguard both patients and healthcare workers.
KODA has therefore called on hospital management to urgently address the concerns raised in order to restore normal services.
“We trust that Management will act with the urgency that these matters demand,” the Association added.
