The Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG) has announced plans to embark on an industrial strike over the implementation of the Publican AI Customs system, citing its negative impact on trading activities.
In a statement dated April 10, 2026, the group said the system has disrupted operations at the ports, alleging that it generates excessive duty charges, delays cargo clearance, and increases demurrage and rent costs for importers.
TAGG also raised concerns about the legality of the system, claiming it is being managed by Truedare Investment Limited, a company it believes lacks the necessary expertise to handle such operations.
The group revealed that the planned nationwide strike will take place from April 13 to April 17, with importers, freight forwarders, and clearing agents expected to halt activities at all ports and entry points. Members have also been instructed to wear red armbands as a symbol of protest.
TAGG is demanding the immediate suspension of the system, a comprehensive review of valuation processes, and financial relief for traders affected by its implementation.
It further disclosed that legal action has already been initiated against the relevant authorities and called on government to intervene swiftly to resolve the situation.
