The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has criticized President John Dramani Mahama for using his brother’s private jet, describing it as a misuse of public office and a potential conflict of interest.
Richard Ahiagbah, National Communications Director of the NPP, emphasized that the President’s actions are unacceptable and pose a risk to Ghana.
At a press conference, Ahiagbah stated that the President’s use of his brother’s jet is a clear example of the “reserve on the state” being treated as a private domain.
He stressed that the President is a public servant, not a private individual, and should not use state resources for personal gain.
Ahiagbah referenced past controversies involving the President, including a Ford Expedition incident, suggesting a pattern of behavior that raises concerns.
Ahiagbah emphasized that it is the responsibility of the Ghanaian people and taxpayers to ensure the President’s movement is funded by the state, not through private means.
He called on Ghanaians to insist on accountability and reject any attempts to set a bad precedent. The NPP is urging the President to adhere to the Constitution and prioritize the nation’s interests.
