Gomoa East: Residents Flee Snake Attacks After Resorting to Bush as Toilet, Blame MP for Abandoned KVIP Project
Residents of Gomoa Amoanda in the Gomoa East District have expressed anger over what they describe as an abandoned toilet facility project in the community.
The residents accused their Member of Parliament, Desmond De-Graft Paitoo, of failing to fulfill his promise to construct a 10-seater KVIP toilet facility.
According to them, the MP cut the sod for the project in September 2024 and assured the community that it would be completed within six months. However, they claim that work has stalled, leaving the structure to deteriorate in the bush after the elections.

Due to the lack of a toilet facility, residents say they have been forced to use nearby bushes as places of convenience. They lament that this situation has exposed them to dangers, including snake attacks whenever they go into the bush.
The residents further alleged that the MP urged them to vote for him, promising that he would complete the project once his government returned to power. They claim he has not visited the community since winning his second term.

In addition to the sanitation challenge, the community is also grappling with a severe water crisis. Residents are appealing to the appropriate authorities to urgently intervene and address both the abandoned toilet project and the water situation.
