The Government of Ghana has promised comprehensive support to survivors of the recent terrorist attack in Burkina Faso, assuring that all medical expenses will be covered.
The assurances were made during a visit to the 37 Military Hospital on Thursday, February 19, 2026, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, alongside the Military High Command, led by the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General William Agyapong.
The victims were part of a group of Ghanaian tomato traders whose truck was ambushed by armed assailants. Reports indicate the attackers lined up the men, killed several, and set the vehicle on fire.
In a Facebook post on Friday, February 20, 2026, the Ghana Armed Forces said the officials encouraged the survivors and wished them a swift recovery.

“The high-ranking officials assured the survivors of the best medical care, adding that their bills would be absorbed by the government,” the statement read.
Seven Ghanaians who lost their lives in the attack have already been buried. The survivors were airlifted back home by the Ghana Armed Forces and are currently receiving medical attention and counselling to support their recovery.
