Grace Aseidua Benyin, a Ghanaian midwife and mother of four residing in Ireland, was found dead weeks after being reported missing. Her body was discovered near the Holy Year Cross in County Tipperary in December 2025 and later confirmed through DNA testing.
Irish police (Gardaí) have described the case as a personal tragedy and said investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of her death.
Grace had moved to Ireland for work and later sponsored her husband, Frederick Amofa, and their four children to join her, reportedly at significant personal cost. Sources familiar with the family indicate that the relationship became strained over financial matters.
Reports suggest that Grace had sought legal protection due to concerns for her safety. She is also said to have taken compassionate leave from work shortly before her death, citing stress.
An autopsy has been carried out, but official findings from the state pathologist and coroner are still pending. While preliminary reports circulating suggest natural causes, authorities have urged the public to allow the investigations to be completed.
Tributes have poured in from colleagues, friends, and members of the Ghanaian community, remembering Grace as a dedicated healthcare professional and loving mother.
She leaves behind her husband, four children aged 5, 7, 9, and 15, and her extended family in Ghana.
