New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2024 running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has urged Ghanaians to reflect deeply on the recent national tragedy that claimed the lives of patriotic citizens, including two serving ministers of state.
Speaking during a wreath-laying ceremony at Jubilee House as part of the three-day national mourning, Dr. Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, said the somber moment should unite the country and inspire leaders to prioritize initiatives that genuinely improve the lives of the people.
Paying tribute, he shared personal memories of the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, and Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, describing them as friends and trusted colleagues.
He also spoke fondly of his 25-year friendship with the late Dr. Samuel Sarpong, highlighting their close collaboration and shared dedication to public service.
While acknowledging the nation’s collective grief, he stressed that the bereaved families would soon face their pain alone. He urged Ghanaians to extend love, compassion, and tangible support long after the ceremonies.
“This is a time for sober reflection,” he said, “a time to stand together, comfort the grieving, and commit to building the Ghana our fallen brothers and sisters dreamed of.”
