Ghanaian dancehall artist Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has taken to Facebook to launch a scathing attack on the Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Raymond Archer, over the recent seizure of his luxury vehicle.
In a post shared on his official page, the musician accused the EOCO boss of heavy-handedness during the operation, which was carried out in June at his residence in Trasacco Valley, an exclusive gated community in the plush northern suburbs of Accra.
“Bringing guns to my house was uncalled for,” he wrote on his Facebook wall, adding that the EOCO head could cause political consequences for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the next general election.
Shatta Wale further declared that the EOCO director was not appointed to “humiliate the citizens of this country” and warned that “God no sleep”, expressing outrage over what he perceives as an unjust and embarrassing action by the law-enforcement agency.
Background
Shatta Wale’s comments come in the wake of EOCO’s confirmation of a joint operation with the FBI in June 2025, which led to the seizure of a 2019 Lamborghini Urus believed to be connected to a U.S.-based financial crime case.
The vehicle was traced to convicted Ghanaian fraudster Nana Kwabena Amuah and is suspected to have been purchased with proceeds from criminal activity. Although initial reports indicated that Shatta Wale was hesitant to release the vehicle, he eventually handed it over voluntarily.
EOCO has maintained that the operation was conducted lawfully and without incident, stating that the officers involved behaved professionally and were armed as part of standard procedure.
The agency has since identified Shatta Wale and a former senior officer of the National Signals Bureau as persons of interest in the ongoing investigation, which may include further cooperation with U.S. law enforcement authorities.
