The family of a three-year-old child who tragically lost his life in an accident involving the well-known actor Kwadwo Nkansah, also known as LilWin, has issued a stern warning that they will not be intimidated in their pursuit of justice.

In a recent interview, a member of the family emphasized that they should not be underestimated, as the deceased child came from a family of means. They are determined to seek accountability and ensure that justice is served for their loved one.

“He thinks he is dealing with a bunch of poor people… we have taken this matter very seriously. Some utterances by his PRO (Public Relations Officer) led a presenter to caution me against being paid off, and I told him that everyone who knows our family in Kumasi knows that we are not destitute or hungry people.

“If you look at the Nyarko Towers where we live, that is just a small place we have rented in town, we travel home on weekends,” said an uncle of the deceased.

“So if they think they are dealing with some weak people that they can bully, they should be careful,” he added.

LilWin was granted GH¢50,000 bail with two sureties by the Asokore Mampong District Court in Kumasi on Monday, June 3, 2024, following an earlier arrest.

LilWin was arrested by the Motor Traffic and Transport Department of the Manhyia Divisional Command, just after his discharge from the hospital.

The arrest is related to a fatal accident where a vehicle he was driving crashed into another, leading to the death of a three-year-old child.

The bereaved family have been vocal in seeking justice for their lost child. The police explained that the delay in LilWin’s arrest was due to his medical condition.

The actor is currently under investigation and is facing charges of dangerous driving and causing harm through negligence.

Despite the delay attributed to LilWin’s health, his lawyer, Margaret Adjei-Twum, argued for his bail, citing his injuries, which included internal bleeding, and stated that the bail was necessary for him to continue his medical treatment, as reported by citinewsroom.com.

Adjei-Twum assured the court that her client’s popularity in Ghana and his commitment to facing legal proceedings eliminated any risk of him fleeing.

The defense also expressed concerns about being rushed to court by the police before LilWin had fully recuperated.

The court has adjourned the case to June 27, 2024.

Background

LilWin, reportedly driving at high speed weeks back, collided with the vehicle carrying little Nana Yaw and his father, Jacob Kofi Ampomah.

Both Nana Yaw and his father were promptly taken to a nearby hospital and subsequently transferred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where the boy died.
