Dancehall musician Shatta Wale firmly believes that the agenda to promote Ghanaian music is destined to fail. According to him, the root cause of this failure lies in the pervasive presence of jealousy within the music industry.
Shatta Wale argues that the Ghanaian music scene is plagued by a toxic atmosphere of envy and rivalry. He asserts that unless this destructive element is eradicated from the system, and individuals wholeheartedly and openly support their fellow musicians, the industry will continue to endure hardships.
In Shatta Wale’s view, the key to revitalizing the music industry lies in fostering a culture of unity and collaboration. By setting aside personal animosities and embracing a spirit of camaraderie, Ghanaian musicians can collectively elevate the industry to new heights.
“I just woke up to tell you , you can’t fight foreign music. Their 10% music will overshadow the whole Ghana. Country with so much jealousy when it’s not them on the frontline. You see how poverty deh worry your artiste with nonsense suggestion . It’s poverty my guy,” he said in a tweet.
There are calls on Ghanaian DJs to play more Ghanaian music, especially during this festive season when people from other countries visit Ghana.
The move, it is believed, will help sell Ghanaian music to foreigners and also put a spotlight on Ghanaian artists.
