Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie has called for compassion and leniency towards young and upcoming artists in the entertainment industry.
Known also as the ‘Landlord of Ghana Music’, Sarkodie took to his Twitter (now X account) on Friday, August 4, 2023, to share his insightful perspective on the challenges faced by the new generation of artists emerging in today’s media-driven world.
The ‘Confam’ rapper who has himself carved a significant path in the entertainment industry, expressed a sense of empathy for the pressures faced by young talents as they navigate both social and traditional media platforms.
Reflecting on his own journey, Sarkodie stated “My era coming up, we had time to make our mistakes behind cameras and at least work on our approach to this business (how to speak during interviews, stagecraft, how to deal with this industry in general),”
Drawing a stark comparison, Sarkodie underscored the unique challenges that the new generation of artists faces.

“Still learning but comparing to these young kings coming up, they literally starting right in front of our eyes (social x traditional media),” he observed.
Unlike his own experience, emerging artists in Ghana today must navigate the complexities of the entertainment world in real time, leaving little room for the privacy to learn and evolve.
As one of Ghana’s most influential figures in the music world, Sarkodie’s advocacy for the well-being of emerging talents has resonated with fans, fellow artists, and industry professionals alike, generating a wave of support and agreement on social media
In a heartfelt plea, Sarkodie who is currently on Tour in the U.S. called for a collective effort to support and nurture these budding talents.
“It’s not easy at all for them,” he stated empathetically.
He urged his followers and the industry at large to approach these young artists with patience and understanding.
“I would urge we take it easy on them and give them a chance,” he earnestly appealed, accompanied by a folded hands emoji.
