John Dramani Mahama, former President of Ghana and flagbearer for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) exudes unwavering confidence in his ability to secure victory in the upcoming 2024 elections.
Dismissing any notion of a threat posed by the ten New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirants, Mahama stands resolute in his belief that none of these candidates possesses the capacity to impede the triumph of the NDC.
With utmost conviction, the former President asserts that the NPP’s contenders lack the necessary prowess to sway the electorate in their favour.
“The first thing to note is that they are all going to run on the legacy of Nana Akufo-Addo. They are all inheritors of the mess that they have created for Ghanaians. They are not running on any new record. I don’t see who is going to be more difficult than the other. Let them choose, it’s their prerogative to choose and when they choose, we will engage. I don’t think any of them will be more difficult than the other,” he said in an interview with KSM.
He firmly believes that the victor of the internal election would be no match for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), given the impressive track records they would present to secure votes.
In November, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will choose a leader for the party in preparation for the 2024 election. The party’s objective is to retain power and break the eight-year cycle.
Before November, the party intends to narrow down the number of contestants to five. The vetting committee, led by Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, recently cleared all ten presidential aspirants who submitted their nomination forms for the special Electoral College election.
The ten aspirants include Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Kwadwo Poku, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Boakye Agyarko, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Joe Ghartey, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.
Additionally, the list includes Boakye Agarko, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, Addai-Nimoh Francis, Joe Ghartey, and Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku.
