A Kumasi based legal practitioner; Lawyer William Kusi, has called for the immediate arrest of the leadership of Okada riders association in the country.
Lawyer Kusi has charged the police to arrest and charged them for committing an offense against the state.
That association (okada)he said is an illegality and said that every member of that association is a criminal and must be dealt with immediately.
His comments follow a series of interviews granted these ‘illegal groups’. According to him, the laws of Ghana frown on their operation, and therefore do not have locus standi( capacity) to operate in the country.
“How can we give prominence to illegality in this country,” he asked and insisted that the same laws that ban the trading of marijuana and its smoking also made Okada riding illegal, “so if tomorrow weed smokers also form an association to press home demand for their welfare, should we buy into it as a country?”
Advancing his case on Oyerepa Breakfast show Thursday morning, he said, it is unwise for any political party to fully endorse their operations and even think of legalizing and regulating their operations in the country.
To him, that is the lazy man’s approach to ending unemployment in the country and he does not expect Ex-President Mahama and people of his calibre to entertain the thought.
“We want to develop Ghana to the standard of Europe and it doesn’t make any sense for NPP and NDC to even think of legalizing motorbikes and tricycles for commercial purposes,” he said
