Mrs. Patricia Appiagyei, the Member of Parliament for Asokwa Constituency in the Ashanti Region, is calling on all New Patriotic Party members within her constituency and across Ghana to unite, campaign, and vote for the party to break the eight-year cycle.
Affectionately known as Mama Pat made this plea during the Asokwa NPP Unity Walk on Sunday, May 5, 2024.
Mrs. Appiagyei emphasized that the NPP, under the leadership of Dr. Bawumia, cannot break the eight-year cycle without unity among its members.
As the deputy majority leader, she urged members to refrain from the skirt and blouse voting pattern and instead vote for all parliamentary aspirants and the NPP flagbearer, Dr. Bawumia. This strategic move, she believes, will help achieve the goal of breaking the eight.
‘If you vote for me alone without voting for Dr Bawumia, I can’t work. Therefore we need to unite and campaign vigorously in our communities for me and Bawumia to break the eight.
Currently, the NPP is facing tougher opposition in parliament. For this reason, I’m entreating all NPP supporters to do away with skirt and blouse voting patterns and consider casting votes for any NPP Parliamentary candidate as well as Dr Bawumia for victory in 2024 polls.”
The MP disclosed “Right now in Asokwa, there are a lot of developmental projects ongoing, so to complete them, vote for me and Dr Bawumia.”
The Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament urged all parents in the Asokwa constituency and the Ashanti Region as a whole to allow their 18-year-old children to participate in the Limited Voter Registration exercise starting on Tuesday.
Nana Ama Ampomaa, the Ashanti Regional NPP Women’s Organiser, also encouraged the Asokwa constituents to vote for Mama Pat and Dr. Bawumia to bring about change.
She highlighted the numerous successful projects completed by the NPP nationwide and emphasized the importance of showcasing these achievements to all Ghanaians.
This will help garner support for the party in the upcoming general elections in December 2024, she added.
