The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has expressed concern over the disappearance of biometric verification devices. During a press conference on Thursday, he cautioned that the NDC would not tolerate the Electoral Commission’s (EC) justification for the missing devices.
“The missing devices could be used to compromise the upcoming elections. We won’t accept those lies” he fumed.
The chairman explained that only five laptops were stolen from the stores, but they were empty and will not compromise the credibility of the elections.
He emphasized that the missing BVDS could be used to register people.
The NDC National Chairman said the EC’s explanation was not satisfactory. “Where did the thief pass to steal the BVD? We can’t accept that. EC only want to compromise the election,” he said.
According to him, EC should have traces of people who stole the devices because it’s not possible that a secure document like this will go missing upon all the huge security at the EC office.”
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) will continue to monitor the Electoral Commission until the end.
