Nana Yaa Jantuah, former General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), has sternly admonished Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) running mate, to desist from making disparaging comments about Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, warning him to be mindful of his utterances regarding the revered statesman.
This comes after Dr. Opoku Prempeh, in a public address, made some remarks about Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s legacy, which ignited widespread indignation among numerous Ghanaians.
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast show with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel Wednesday morning, the former general secretary stated that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s contributions to Ghana’s independence and development are unparalleled and his legacy remains unmatched.
She cautioned the NPP against using derogatory language to disparage Dr. Nkrumah’s remarkable achievements, which have had a lasting impact on the country.
“You can say whatever you want but we will not sit down for you to use such words on Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. I will not sit down for that to happen. You can’t do that, nobody is going to allow that to happen… they have to render an apology to the entire African continent and Ghana in particular for the derogatory remarks,” she stated.
However, she noted that NPP should not compare themselves to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah because the evidence is clear on what he has done for Ghana, adding that he is the reason why Ghana has independence today.
“If it hadn’t been for the efforts of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, where would you have been now and could you have become the doctor you are today? He should sit down to rethink and re-strategize on how he is going to speak,” she said.
