The United Nations has praised the National Election Security Task Force (NESTF) for its crucial role in maintaining peace, law, and order during the country’s recent general elections.
The UN noted that the NESTF’s exemplary performance will serve as a shining example for other West African countries and the rest of the continent.
H.E. Leonardo Santos Simao, the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for West Africa, emphasized the importance of peaceful elections, stating that Africans should be able to choose their leaders without violence or intimidation.
Simao commended the NESTF’s educative efforts, which he believes played a significant role in the successful outcome of the elections.
The UN envoy encouraged other African countries to reach out to the NESTF to learn from their experiences and best practices in conducting peaceful elections.
