A tragic accident on the Techiman-Wenchi highway in the Bono Region has claimed the lives of three people.
The incident occurred on Thursday morning at Nkonsia, a farming community in the Wenchi Municipality, when a KIA Rhino truck, loaded with cashew nuts, collided with a Daewoo Matiz taxi traveling from Wenchi to Techiman.
According to reports, two male passengers in the taxi died on the spot, while a female passenger succumbed to her injuries at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital.
Wenchi Municipal Fire Commander, Divisional Officer 2 (DOII) Eric Boateng, revealed that the accident was caused by a brake failure in the KIA Rhino, which led the vehicle to veer off its lane and crash into the taxi.
The truck’s mate sustained a minor forehead injury and is currently receiving treatment at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital.
Meanwhile, the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue, awaiting autopsy.
