Armed robbers have attacked BECE candidates at Sefwi Nsawura in the Akontombra District of the Western North Region.
The two robbers who were wielding locally manufactured guns and sharp knives took away six mobile phones and cash of GHC 3,758 from students and teachers of Future Noble Academy School who were lodging at Sefwi Nsawura for the ongoing 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Speaking to Angel TV’s Nana Opoku Agyemang, two of the victims – Mr. Stephen Owusu and Mr. Douglass Oppong – stated that the robbery incident occurred at 2:00 am on Tuesday, 16th November, 2021.
One of the victim’s said, one of the teachers who was not deeply asleep prior to the incident saw the armed robbers breaking into their rooms and raised an alarm to wake the rest of the team.
I struggled with one of the robbers and got a knife cut when they broke into our room, some bullets fell from the gun during the struggle with the thieves. They were in black shirts and made away with our phones and monies, a teacher narrated.
In the of process resisting attack, one of the teachers and a student were wounded by the robbers who later took to their heels following the resistance by the victims.
Meanwhile a source said the two victims who were wounded were rushed to Nsawura government hospital for medical treatment.
The case has since been reported at Sefwi Nsawura Police Station for an investigation to be conducted to arrest the culprits.
