A 30-year-old man, Kojo Esson, popularly known as Dee Jay, has been arrested for defiling a 9-year-old girl at Gomoa Nyanyano in the Gomoa East District in the Central Region.
Police sources said on Monday, February 4, 2025, Kojo asked the victim, who was playing with her friends, to buy water for him. She had just closed from school, while her mother, Sarah Lamptey, a trader at Kasoa market, was away.
After committing the act, Kojo is said to have handed the victim GH₵5.00, which she gave to her mother upon her return.
Sarah told Adom News that she noticed a change in her daughter’s walking. Out of curiosity, she asked what she did to deserve the GH₵5.00 and checked her panty, in which she found blood stains.
Upon questioning, the victim told her mother what had happened to her, and medical checks confirmed she had indeed been defiled.
A complaint was filed at the police station, leading to Kojo’s arrest. Upon interrogation, he admitted to the crime but claimed it was the devil’s work.
He was arraigned before the Kasoa Ofaakor Circuit Court on Thursday and has been remanded for two weeks in custody.
