Police investigations have revealed that the prosthetic worn by the Takoradi woman who faked her pregnancy and kidnapping was bought at Takoradi market circle at the cost of GHC30.000.
Josephine Panyin Mensah, 27, according to information available to Police visited the Takoradi Hospital last year on the 11th September with lower abdominal pains and was treated for pelvic inflammatory disease.
She has subsequently visited the facility four times with no records of antenatal care.
The Western Regional Head of Prosecutions and Legal Affairs at the Police Command who led the prosecutions, Superintendent Emmanuel Basintale briefing the court on Monday when the suspect was arraigned said police investigations analysis suggest that the number used by the supposed kidnappers were registered in the name of the accused name Josephine Panyin Mensah Simons.
Meanwhile, Josephine Panyin Mensah has pleaded not guilty to the two charges leveled against her by the Police – [deceiving a public officer and publication of false with the intent to cause fear and panic]
The Takoradi circuit court A presided over his honor Michael Cudjoe Ampadu granted the suspect a GHC50,000 bail with two sureties to be justified after Lead counsel for the suspect’s lead counsel Philip Fiifi Buckman prayed the court to grant her bail as the charges leveled against the suspect were not serious offenses.
The case has been adjourned to October 14.
