The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has charged six individuals at the High Court in Tamale, Northern Region, with offences related to payroll fraud and corruption.
The accused—Yakubu Tahidu, Abdulai Abukari Sadic, Sammy Suuk, Mohammed Yusif Jay, Stafford Korletey Azudey-Barres, and Osman Issahaku—face 17 counts of corruption for allegedly causing financial loss to the state.
This case stems from a referral by National Security, which reported that Yakubu Tahidu continued receiving salaries as a teacher despite leaving his post to work at the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC).
The other accused individuals are alleged to have facilitated or failed to prevent these fraudulent payments.
- Yakubu Tahidu, formerly a teacher at Balogu M/A JHS, is accused of unlawfully collecting salaries after transferring to MASLOC.
- Abdulai Abukari Sadic, the Yendi Municipal IPPD Coordinator, and Sammy Suuk, a Schools Improvement Support Officer, allegedly validated the fraudulent salary payments.
- Mohammed Yusif Jay, the former headteacher of Balogu M/A JHS, is accused of approving the salaries despite his reassignment to another school.
- Stafford Korletey Azudey-Barres, an Assistant Chief Accounts Technician at the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department, allegedly assisted in processing the illegal payments.
- Osman Issahaku, the current headteacher of Balogu M/A JHS, is charged with continuing to validate the fraudulent salaries.
The OSP remains committed to investigating and prosecuting corruption cases to protect public funds and ensure accountability.
