Shatta Wale Claims $1M Per Show in Ghana; Fans React

Ghanaian dancehall musician Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jr., popularly known as Shatta Wale, has sparked widespread discussion online after revealing that he can earn as much as $1 million from a single performance in Ghana.

The outspoken artiste made the disclosure during a conversation with British-Ghanaian media personality Adesope Olajide on the latest episode of the Afrobeats Podcast, aired on June 7, 2026.

Speaking about his music journey and financial success, Shatta Wale explained that he has always considered himself a global star, adding that strategic planning has played a key role in his achievements.

He said, “I’ve always seen myself as an international star, but I feel I just need to work on my stuff. If I tell you I can get paid up to $1 million per show in Ghana, you will ask how.”

According to the “On God” hitmaker, Ghana offers great opportunities for musicians who understand the local music industry and know how to position themselves effectively.

“Ghana is a beautiful place where people understand the music culture, but it depends on who you meet and how your programming is to get those results,” he explained.

Shatta Wale also dismissed the belief that artistes must relocate abroad to achieve wealth and success, insisting that his financial breakthrough happened while living and working in Ghana.

He stated, “I didn’t get rich anywhere; I got rich in Ghana. The respect I have from political parties, ministers and organisers is crazy for me in Ghana. Anybody that calls me in Ghana gives me the respect they would give to Jay-Z and Beyoncé.”

The award-winning dancehall artiste further revealed that promoters invest heavily in his concerts, which is why his team prioritises high-quality production and performance delivery at every event.

“Anything I need for my shows is done properly. I make so much money in Ghana that I feel so comfortable. I’ve been living that life for the past ten years,” he shared.

Although Shatta Wale has built a strong international fanbase over the years through collaborations and global performances, he noted that he remains selective about overseas shows due to the level of investment involved.

“It’s not that I don’t want to move out of Ghana, but when promoters call, I explain to them. When I’m going for shows, we spend so much because the promoters pay so much, so we make sure we also give them their money’s worth,” he added.

Over the years, Shatta Wale has established himself as one of Ghana’s most influential and controversial music figures, known for his dominance in dancehall music, headline-making statements, and a large fan base both locally and internationally.
