Outgoing Member of Parliament for Oforikrom Constituency, Dr. Emmanuel Kwabena Marfo has commissioned a newly constructed fence at Appeadu R.C JHS School in the Oforikrom Constituency.
The fence, completed on December 27, 2024, aims to provide a secure environment for students and teachers, protecting them from external threats and disruptions.
Speaking to Oyerepa Online, Dr. Marfo highlighted the importance of a safe learning environment, citing the prevalence of intruders engaging in illicit activities such as drug use, vandalism, and defecation in classrooms. These incidents not only disrupt the learning process but also hinder students’ ability to focus on their studies.
To address these concerns, Dr. Marfo allocated part of the MPs Common Fund to construct the fence, ensuring a secure and conducive learning environment for students at Appeadu R.C JHS.
“Most urban schools without fencing face significant teaching and learning challenges. Unfortunately, these schools often experience trespassing, substance abuse, and other illicit activities, including indecent behaviour and vandalism in classrooms. As a result, students struggle to focus on their studies due to constant disruptions from outside activities. To address this issue, I deemed it necessary to allocate funds from the MPs Common Fund to construct a wall for Appeadu R.C JHS.” He disclosed.
The outgoing lawmaker said the initiative to construct fences for all government schools in his constituency is part of the Oforikrom Municipal’s policy to protect school lands from encroachment and enhance the teaching and learning processes.
“The Oforikrom Municipal’s initiative to construct fences for all government schools is a key part of our policy.
This initiative also aims to protect or secure the schools’ lands from encroachers. This effort will ultimately enhance our schools’ teaching and learning experience, fostering a more effective and productive environment for our students.”
He indicated that the fence at Appeadu R.C JHS is one of his legacy projects in the constituency.
“As an outgoing MP, I believe that this initiative will be remembered as one of my legacy projects in the Oforikrom Constituency.” Dr. Marfo declared.
