Rev. Alexander Nti, a well-known journalist at Despite Media, has called on presiding members and Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the Ashanti Region to support his bid for a seat on the Council of State. Rev. Nti, who has been an outspoken advocate for the development of Ashanti, emphasized that his election would provide an important opportunity to lobby for the completion of key projects that have long been left unfinished.
In a statement to the media, Rev. Nti expressed frustration over the stalled development projects in the region, despite efforts from past presidents, including Jerry John Rawlings, John Agyekum Kufuor, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, John Mahama, Nana Akufo-Addo, and John Dramani Mahama. He noted that while these leaders initiated numerous projects, many remain abandoned or incomplete, hindering the progress of the Ashanti Region.
“We have seen promises made by every government since 1992, but the development of Ashanti remains the same. Projects started with good intentions by previous leaders have been left to deteriorate,” Rev. Nti said. “It is high time we come together and ensure that these projects are completed for the benefit of the people of Ashanti.”
One of the major issues Rev. Nti highlighted was the deteriorating state of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, a critical healthcare institution in the region. He called for urgent rehabilitation work and modern medical equipment to restore the hospital’s status as one of Ghana’s leading health facilities. According to Rev. Nti, failure to address these issues would continue to affect the quality of healthcare in the region.
“Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital is a cornerstone of healthcare in Ashanti. It is not just about the building, but the lives it is supposed to save. We must prioritize its rehabilitation and ensure it is properly equipped to serve the people of the region,” he stated.
Rev. Nti also stressed the need to focus on youth employment in the country. He noted that many young people are eager to contribute to the nation’s progress, but lack the opportunities to do so. As a member of the Council of State, he pledged to push for more policies aimed at creating jobs and empowering the youth.
“It is time for the youth to be given opportunities to serve and grow in their careers. They are the future of this country, and we must provide them with the necessary platforms to succeed,” he said.
In his appeal, Rev. Nti urged presiding members and MMDCEs to rally behind his candidacy, promising that his election would be a step towards positive change in the Ashanti Region. He reiterated his commitment to lobbying for the completion of critical projects, including infrastructure, healthcare, and youth employment programs.
“I am dedicated to serving the people of Ashanti, and I believe that with the right leadership, we can turn the tide and achieve the development that we have long waited for,” he concluded.
Rev. Nti’s call has sparked conversations within the region, with many expressing hope that his candidacy will bring a fresh perspective to the Council of State. As the election draws closer, the focus remains on how the region can finally see the fulfilment of promises made by past administrations and the realization of key development goals.
