The Ghana Police Service has initiated a manhunt for a group of armed robbers who shot and killed two plainclothes police officers at Poyamirea, a community near Binduri in the Upper East Region.
The tragic incident occurred on Sunday, April 13, 2025, according to an official statement released by the Director of Public Affairs, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Grace Ansah-Akrofi.
The two officers were reportedly traveling on a private motorbike from Bongo to Binduri when they were ambushed by the assailants. The robbers opened fire, fatally wounding both officers, and fled the scene with the stolen motorbike.
The Ghana Police Service has assured the public that every effort is being made to track down and arrest the perpetrators of this heinous act.
“Our thoughts are with the families of the fallen officers during this difficult time,” ACP Ansah-Akrofi stated, adding that further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
