The Police in the Twifo Atti Morkwa District in the Central Region are searching for Yaw Oboobi, 60, who allegedly defiled a 12-year-old pupil of Twifo Neamakurom D/A Basic School.
The girl reportedly fell seriously ill after the incident.
According to eyewitnesses, Oboobi, who is married with three children, allegedly defiled the girl in his bedroom at Twifo Neamakurom.
After the incident, the girl’s walking pattern changed, raising suspicion among her family members. Initially, she remained silent but later revealed that Oboobi had slept with her and given her GHS 5 to keep it a secret, warning that she would die if she spoke about it.
She was taken to the Twifo Atti Morkwa District Hospital, where a medical examination confirmed that she had been defiled.
The case has been reported to the Twifo Atti Morkwa Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU), and police are actively searching for Oboobi, who has since gone into hiding.
Twifo Atti Morkwa District Police Commander, Superintendent Charles Addei Boateng, has urged the public to provide any information that may lead to the suspect’s arrest.
