Police arrest four suspected drug peddlers in Ashanti Region operation
The Ghana Police Service has arrested four suspected drug peddlers during an intelligence-led operation at Kunsu Township in the Mankranso District of the Ashanti Region.
The operation, conducted in the early hours of Friday, June 26, 2026, formed part of ongoing efforts to crack down on the trafficking and sale of illicit drugs and other criminal activities in the district.
In a statement issued on Monday, June 29, the police identified the suspects as Issaka Musah, 22; Amankwah Emmanuel, 25; Kwame Boateng, 32; and Appiah Prince, 23.
According to the police, officers recovered a locally manufactured pistol loaded with two BB rounds of ammunition, quantities of suspected tramadol, red capsules, dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp and a whitish powdery substance suspected to be cocaine during the operation.

Police also seized GH¢5,647.40 in cash, which is believed to be proceeds from illegal drug-related activities.
The Police Service said the operation was part of its sustained campaign to combat the trafficking and peddling of illicit drugs while tackling other forms of organised crime within the district.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects have admitted ownership of the items recovered during the operation.
The four suspects remain in police custody assisting with investigations and are expected to be arraigned before court after investigations are concluded.

The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying the fight against drug-related offences and organised crime and appealed to the public to continue providing timely and credible information to support law enforcement efforts.
