The Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission (EC), Mr Benjamin Bannor-Bio, has announced that measures will be put in place to ensure a smooth and fair voting process during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Super Delegates conference.
This decision comes in response to the need to prevent any potential election controversies.
The NPP has set August 26, 2023, as the date for its Super Delegates Conference, during which five out of the ten aspirants will be shortlisted for the party’s upcoming presidential primaries. These primaries are scheduled to take place on November 4, 2023.
During an interview on the Oyerepa Breakfast Show on Monday, Mr. Bannor-Bio emphasized the commitment of the Electoral Commission to guaranteeing a transparent and unbiased election on Saturday.
“We will provide strict rules so that no one will be allowed to use a mobile phone to vote. The secret vote does not allow you to take photographs of your voting,” he stated.
According to him, “Voting will start at exactly 9 am and will close at 1 pm in the afternoon.”
The EC director highlighted that about 119 delegates are expected to vote Ashanti region.
