Bice Osei Kuffour, widely known as Obour, has suffered a second defeat in his bid for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidacy in the Asante Akyem South constituency.
His opponent, Asante Boateng emerged as the clear frontrunner, securing a commanding 522 votes out of the total 853 ballots cast.
Obour secured the second position with 280 votes, while Eric Amofa trailed behind with 50 votes.
This marks the second occasion in which Obour has faced disappointment in his dream of a parliamentary seat, following his unsuccessful attempt in the 2020 NPP parliamentary elections.
The party’s primaries were conducted on January 27, 2023, nationwide except in constituencies without sitting MPs or those lost in the 2020 elections.
The, primaries showcased the dynamic landscape of political competition within the party.
But Obour’s journey, despite facing setbacks, has generated anticipation regarding the future path he may choose in the aftermath of this latest defeat.
