President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has reiterated his power in terms of distribution of development across the country.
Speaking about the construction of roads, the president told New Patriotic Party (NPP) faithful in Ejisu on April 28, 2024, that he had the final say in terms of road construction anywhere in the country.
He was addressing the final rally for the NPP candidate ahead of a by-election occasioned by the death of the Ejisu Member of Parliament, John Kumah.
“Since he was removed, which road has he constructed?” he said addressing a former MP, Kwabena Aduomi, who has decided to contest as an independent candidate.
“I don’t say this to boast but there is no road that can be constructed in Ghana without my permission. From today till 7th of January, the government in power is an NPP government led by Akufo-Addo.
“If you need someone to catch the attention of an NPP president, we need an NPP MP,” he told the gathering.
He further underscored the need for the NPP to retain its slight majority in Parliament to make his government’s business in the last few months smoother.
The Ejisu by-election is slated for April 30, 2024.
The seat became vacant after Dr John Kumah lost his life on March 7, 2024.
The late deputy finance minister was said to have suffered a terminal illness and was being transported from Kumasi to Accra for onward transport to Germany but lost his life at Suhum.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has opted out of the by-election because they want to focus on the national election.
