The Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame, John Darko, has strongly criticized the 2025 budget presented by the Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, describing it as a “complete waste of time.”
Speaking to Oyerepa News after the budget reading, the MP expressed his disappointment, stating that key concerns affecting Ghanaians, particularly in Kumasi, were not addressed in the statement.
According to him, he had hoped to hear concrete measures to tackle the rising dollar rate, but the Finance Minister failed to provide any solutions. He also lamented the ongoing power crisis (Dumsor) in Kumasi, which he expected to be a major point of discussion in the budget but was completely ignored.
Furthermore, the MP was particularly concerned that the Suame Interchange project, a critical infrastructure need in his constituency, was not captured in the budget.
“I didn’t hear him talk about how the high dollar rate would be reduced. I didn’t hear anything about how Dumsor in Kumasi would be fixed. The Suame Interchange project was also not captured, so I think the NDC Budget was a complete waste of time,” John Darko stated.
