More than 100 Members of Ghana’s Parliament(MPs) have signed a petition for the dismissal of Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta and Minister of State at the finance ministry, Adu Boahen to restore public confidence in the economy.
The MPs led by Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, MP for Asante-Akim North in Parliament on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, at a presser expressed dissatisfaction about how badly Ken Ofori-Atta has handled the country’s economy.
“We have had occasions to defend allegations of conflicts of interest, lack of confidence, and trust against the leadership of the Finance Ministry,” Andy Appiah Kubi stated at the presser.
The MPs said they will not do business with the government nor support the 2023 Budget if president Akufo-Addo fails to fire the Finance Minister.
Initially, about 80 NPP MPs signed the petition to Akufo-Addo to dismiss Ken but the latest development, more than 100 MPs made up of both majority and minority have so far signed.
