Ghanaian afro beats and high-life singer-songwriter, KiDi has opened up about the distressing experience he faced when fake news alleging he suffered from a stroke circulated on social media.
Born Dennis Nana Dwamena, the 2022 VGMA Artiste of The Year speaking on Hitz FM, revealed that he was tempted to take legal action against the bloggers responsible for spreading the false information.
“When it happened I called Richie and asked ‘how many times or for how long will these things happen and we will say it’s nothing? How long will we have to keep doing this? People are taking advantage obviously as you can see’. There needs to be some course of action,” KiDi disclosed.
In February, he had to cancel his North American tour due to undisclosed health issues, which led to speculations and unfounded rumours about his health, including the false claim of suffering from a stroke.
Addressing his fans and the public in an Instagram post, Kidi stated, “A little under two months ago, I made the painful decision of cancelling my tour to take care of my health that included taking time off social media. In that time, I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of love from family, friends, fans and the brands i work with. You all made me feel incredibly loved in this difficult period and I can’t appreciate you enough”
Despite the difficulties he faced, KiDi made a triumphant return, releasing a new single titled ‘I Lied’ and making his first public appearance at the 2023 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) in April. He expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support he received from fans and the music industry during those tough times.
According to the ‘Shut Up’ hitmaker, after much consideration, he decided against pursuing legal action and opted not to give too much attention to the negative news.
Instead, he focused on his music and making a comeback after the challenging period
The false rumours about KiDi’s health, he revealed in a previous interview took a toll not only on him but also on his family, friends, and the brands he collaborates with.
The news which spread like wildfire, left him inundated with concerned calls, including one from his worried mother.
