Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Nwabiagya South in the Ashanti region, Emmanuel Agyei Anhwere has disclosed that the majority in parliament’s decision on the removal of the finance minister is only to help President Akufo-Addo to attain a good legacy after his term of office.
According to the MP, the members of the ruling party have joined the minority in parliament following the move to dismiss Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta because they believe this is the only way to help the President and the party to have a good legacy after their term of office.
In an exclusive interview with Nana Yaw Mensah Joel on Oyerepa Breakfast Show, the Atwima Nwabiagya South MP said they have advised Akufo-Addo to relieve the finance minister of his duties just to restore peace and stability.
A section of majority and minority members in Ghana’s parliament has signed a motion filed by the opposition NDC party for the immediate dismissal of Ken Ofori Atta and his deputy.
Reacting to this issue, Anhwere, a member of the majority called for the removal of the finance minister and his deputy.
Meanwhile members of parliament both majority caucus and minority have said they will not involve themselves in any government activities until Ken Ofori-Atta is fired.
“The president must immediately fire the two officials to restore the fallen economy” the group’s spokesman, Andy Appiah-Kubi, told reporters.
