Ex President John Dramani Mahama has imposed the strongest warning to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) aspirants ahead of Saturday’s 10th National Delegates Congress.
The erstwhile party leader has observed that some aspirants and campaigners are intentionally trying to equate his name with their campaign.
“As has been publicly stated by Mr Mahama, he has no preference and has not endorsed any candidate in the ongoing NDC national executive elections, which climaxes on Saturday at the 10th National Delegates Congress,” a press release from his office on Tuesday, December 13 said.
Mr Mahama stated in a letter signed by his Special Aide, Joyce Bawah Mogtari, that some applicants are attempting to push a narrative that supports their candidacy, despite his previous warning.
“Of paramount interest to [former], President Mahama is Victory for the NDC in 2024 to work with expectant and suffering Ghanaians to ‘Build Ghana We Want.”
He has stated that he will work with whoever the delegates choose to elect on Saturday.
On Saturday, the largest opposition party will meet at the Accra Sports Stadium to vote in new national executives for the next four years.
It will be the culmination of a reorganization process that began with polling stations. It will be followed by the election of a flagbearer for the 2024 elections the following year.
Already, the National Youth Organiser and the National Women’s Organiser have been elected, at a congress held last Saturday at the University of Cape Coast.
