Many Ghanaians have chastised Lawyer Captain Retired Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey, for defending Chinese Woman, Aisha Huang in court over her involvement in illegal mining (Galamsey)

Aisha Huang was arrested through a National Security operation after she reportedly ‘sneaked’ into the country to again undertake the illegal mining activity.

The Galamsey queen is currently facing criminal charges with three others at an Accra Circuit Court. Her lead Counsel Lawyer Captain Retired Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey, is a staunch NPP member.

A lot of people believe that, no Ghanaian should have stood in defense for the suspected illegal miner (Aisha Huang).

But, Lawyer Captain Retired Nkrabeah Effah-Dartey in an interview on Oyerepa FM’s ‘Ghana Tesen’ said, he is only doing his professional work.

According to him, he has large family to take care of; therefore once he has had a job to get some money to live on, he will never stop being Aisha Huang’s lawyer.

“People who are blaming me for defending Aisha Huang don’t know what they are saying.”

I have a wife, children and grandchildren, so I’m only working for my daily bread”

“I’m defending Aisha Huang for my daily bread”, he stated.

When asked if he would stop defending Aisha Huang should his party, (NPP) led by Akufo-Addo gives him appointment, Lawyer Effah-Dartey stated that;

“If government gives me an appointment to stop defending Aisha Huang, of course I will stop.”

He reiterated that, “anytime you see me defending Aisha Huang, it means she has paid me fully. As we speak I’ve been paid fully.”

“My only worry is that, I find it difficult to get access to my client. I feel the state is not treating her fairly. ” He further stated.

The experienced lawyer however expressed optimism that, his client will be set free because neither, the Attorney General nor the state has evidence to prove that Aisha Huang is a galamseyer.
