An experienced sports journalist, Somtymer Otuo Acheampong, has expressed his belief that Dr. Mahamud Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, would be an excellent candidate for the 2024 elections. During a public lecture titled “Ghana’s Next Chapter: Selfless Leadership and Bold Solutions for the Future,” the Vice President highlighted several projects undertaken by his office.
The lecture provided an opportunity for Bawumia to present his vision for Ghana comprehensively and engagingly. Spanning several hours, the lecture primarily focused on the accomplishments of the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia government over the past seven years, covering areas such as governance, economy, job creation, politics, and religion. Additionally, Bawumia outlined his plans for various sectors of the Ghanaian economy if elected president.
Following the lecture, social media platforms were inundated with negative comments and criticism. Some individuals labelled Dr Bawumia as a liar and dismissed his speech as untrustworthy. The opposition party, NDC, also joined in, accusing Bawumia of spreading falsehoods as he often does.
However, speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time, Otuo Acheampong shared his perspective on the matter.
He emphasized the importance of critically analyzing Bawumia’s lecture before passing judgment, asserting that one cannot label him a liar without fact-checking his statements.
According to Otuo Acheampong, if the numerous achievements mentioned by Bawumia are indeed true, then the NPP flagbearer would be an outstanding choice for the upcoming 2024 elections.
“Bawumia said, (We have extended more rural telephone network than any other government since 1992) is that a fact, if that is a fact, then we have an option to make,” Somtymer told Kwesi Parker Wilson, host of the show.
Recall that, Dr Bawumia in his public lecture dubbed: ‘Ghana’s Next Chapter: Selfless Leadership and Bold Solutions for the Future’, listed more than 200 major achievements in areas of Digitization, Health, A New Tax System, Sustained Macroeconomic Stability, Agricultural Growth, Economy among others.
