The former Member of Parliament for Asante Akim North, Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi has praised President John Dramani Mahama for his selections in the recent ministerial nominations for his cabinet.
In an interview on JoyNews’ Upfront on January 9, 2025, Andy Appiah-Kubi expressed his satisfaction with President Mahama’s ministerial nominations, stating that his nominations were carefully selected and based on merit.
He pointed out that the nominees reflect Mahama’s focus on competence and expertise, highlighting that these individuals are well-equipped to deliver on their respective roles effectively.
“I’m very happy that the President has carefully selected his ministers so far. And I want to commend him for prioritising competence, integrity, and knowledge. I’m highly impressed with the list so far.
“President Mahama has been very careful with his selection. He has put merit ahead of any consideration and this is what we expect of every president to do,” he said.
The former New Patriotic Party lawmaker’s remarks follow President Mahama’s first set of ministerial appointments, which include the nomination of a Minister of Finance, a Minister of Energy, and an Attorney General and Minister of Justice.
The Majority Leader, Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, has been appointed by Mahama as the Minister of Finance Designate.
The Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu, John Abdulai Jinapor, is the Minister of Energy Designate, while the Member of Parliament for Bolgatanga East, Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, is the Attorney General and Minister for Justice.
