Agya Koo shared a heartwarming story about how he played a crucial role in helping his friend Akrobeto reignite his acting career in Ghana.
In an exclusive interview on Lawson Radio, the Kumawood veteran revealed the strong bond he shares with Akrobeto and the pivotal moment that led to his friend’s return to the Ghanaian film industry.
The two actors, well-known for their roles in Ghanaian comedy and drama, have been close since their early days in the iconic Keysoap Concert Party era.
Agya Koo fondly recalled their brotherly bond, reminiscing about their humble beginnings. “We were inseparable. We dressed alike, traveled together, and would walk home side by side after every performance, dreaming about the future,” he shared.
“I stayed in Ghana and worked hard. I bought my cars and built my house. It wasn’t easy, but I believed in the process,” Agya Koo shared, proud of the achievements he made in his home country.
Despite the geographical distance, Agya Koo never lost sight of his friend. Their relationship remained strong, and a chance reunion proved to be a turning point for Akrobeto. “I was performing in Holland, and I called Akrobeto to join me,” Agya Koo explained.
“He was in Belgium at the time, but I knew how much he still loved acting, and I wanted to remind him of his roots.”
The decision to invite Akrobeto wasn’t just about sharing a stage; it was about reigniting his passion for acting. “I told him, ‘Come back to Ghana. This is your passion, and the industry here still needs you. You can make a real impact if you return,’” Agya Koo recalled. “When he came back to Ghana, we worked together on a film that became a huge success.”
This film marked the beginning of a new chapter for Akrobeto. Agya Koo proudly shared that the success of the movie helped his friend acquire a house and a car, transforming his life. “Seeing him achieve that success was incredible. It was amazing to watch him rise again, and I was happy to have played a part in that.”
