Christian Kwabena Andrews, presidential candidate for Ghana Union Movement (GUM), condemned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) for prioritizing personal gain over national development.
Kwabena Andrews criticized the parties for destroying Ghana’s economy and selling off national assets since Jerry John Rawlings’ tenure. citing their failure to improve the lives of Ghanaians.
Osofo Kyiri Abosom, founder of the Ghana Union Movement, warned at a press conference that Ghana’s reliance on the NDC and NPP parties will ultimately lead to the country’s downfall.
He emphasized that these parties have exploited Ghana’s resources for personal benefits, leaving the country in a state of disarray. Andrews’ stance reflects widespread dissatisfaction with Ghana’s two-party system, which has alternated power since the Fourth Republic.
Kyiri Abosom added the need for change, citing poor education and infrastructure as significant concerns. “The youth are roaming about, receiving scam education, and our infrastructure is inadequate,” he said.
To address this, Rev. Kwaben Andrews proposed reducing the number of parliamentary seats from 275 to 60 and replacing outdated leaders.
The Ghana Union Movement, established in 2019, seeks to break the NDC-NPP duopoly dominating Ghana’s politics since the Fourth Republic.
