Ghanaian actress Mercy Asiedu has clapped back at fashion critic Charlie Dior over his scathing comments about her outfit at a recent event.
In a bold response, Asiedu shrugged off the criticism, asserting that her husband’s approval is all that matters.
In an interview on Accra FM, Mercy was asked if Charlie Dior’s criticisms bothered her and she responded, “I don’t listen to them. I don’t dress for anyone or to impress people. I dress to match my body and what pleases me and my husband.”
She added, “If my husband raises concern about my outfit, I would change it. Whoever criticizes my dressing, it is up to you. Maybe you don’t have anything to do; that’s why you have time to do such things. If you are a busy person, I don’t think you’d have time to chastise people’s dressing. I don’t care about one person’s criticisms.”
Background:
In March 2024, Ghanaian actress Mercy Asiedu turned heads with her bold fashion choice at a public event, which quickly went viral online. The stunning look featured a fitted, multi-coloured spaghetti-strapped top paired with a denim skirt and boots, with a choker, statement earrings, and a belt chain.
However, US-based fashion critic Charlie Dior took issue with Asiedu’s ensemble, citing concerns about proportion and accessorizing. Dior argued that the outfit clashed with Asiedu’s “triangularly inverted” body type and felt the overall look was overly embellished.
