Ghanaian musician Jehoshaphat Eshun, popularly known as Skrewfaze, has expressed concerns over the pollution of the country’s water bodies due to the galamsey menace.
The UK-based veteran Hiplife artiste emphasised that while citizens solely blame the government for the pollution, they should also take responsibility.
“Look at our water bodies, they’re in a terrible state. I often ask myself, is this the Ghana Kwame Nkrumah envisioned for us? All of this is driven by greed,” he lamented during an interview on Cape Coast’s Property FM.
He added, “As much as we criticize the government, we need to reflect on our own actions. We complain about galamsey destroying our water bodies, yet we often vote for the same people we’re protesting against.”
Skrewfaze, expressing the gullible nature of some Ghanaians said many people who are currently demonstrating will still vote for the current government.
“People who are demonstrating and holding placards saying ‘stop galamsey now’ will shock you when they go and vote for the very leaders they’re complaining about.”
