President Akufo-Addo has stated that, he does not drink alcohol.
“I don’t drink alcohol. Everybody who knows me know that I don’t drink alcohol,” he said, while delivering the State of the Nation Address (SONA) to Parliament on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.
During the State of the Nation Address (SONA), the President began to experience a persistent cough and requested a glass of water.
As he was handed the glass, he humorously reassured the audience that he was not drinking alcohol, as he took a sip.
The SONA is a requirement outlined in Article 67 of the 1992 constitution, mandating the President to deliver a speech at the opening and closing of each Parliamentary Session.
This annual address to Parliament provides an overview of the country’s economic, social, and financial status.
