The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced plans to reintroduce road and bridge tolls as a means of generating revenue for road maintenance and related projects.
In a press release dated February 6, 2025, and signed by the Head of the Public Relations Unit, Nasir Ahmad Yartey, the Ministry revealed that it is developing a technology-driven toll collection system to enhance efficiency.
The initiative seeks to address funding challenges in road maintenance while ensuring a seamless tolling process.
To achieve this, the Ministry has committed to an open, transparent, competitive, and cost-effective procurement process.
The statement reaffirmed the government’s dedication to implementing a modern tolling system that will contribute to improved road infrastructure development.
