Professor Charles Marfo, Provost of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has launched a scathing attack on the government’s flagship Free Senior High School (SHS) policy.
According to him, the Free SHS policy is “needless, a targeted approach would have been more effective in reaching those who truly needed assistance.
“Since the commencement of Free SHS, I’ve been consistent that, it’s needless, we could have targeted the needed people.”
Speaking on Oyerepa Breakfast Time on Thursday, Professor Marfo argued that the policy’s implementation has been flawed, with more funds ending up in people’s pockets than being used to support the students.
“The Free SHS money that has gone into people’s pockets is more than what the country has used to cater for the students. It has benefited some individuals more than the students themselves.” Prof Marfo alleged.
