Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson is set to present his first budget to Parliament today, March 11, 2025.
The budget will outline the current state of Ghana’s economy and introduce key policy measures aimed at resetting and transforming the nation’s economic trajectory in alignment with President John Mahama’s vision.
According to Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the budget’s policies have been shaped by recommendations from the National Economic Dialogue, which was held on March 3 and 4, 2025.
With Ghana still grappling with high debt levels, inflation, and unemployment, citizens are looking to Dr. Forson for strategies that will provide much-needed relief to businesses and households.
There is also widespread anticipation regarding the possible removal of several taxes, including the Electronic Transfer Levy (E-Levy), the COVID-19 Levy, and the Betting Tax.
Meanwhile, the Minority in Parliament has signaled strong opposition to any introduction of new taxes. They insist that the Mahama-led administration must fulfill its promise to ease the tax burden on Ghanaians.
